Historic Life Saving Station on seven private acres on the southeast point of Little Cranberry Island, also known as Islesford. At the end of a three quarter mile right-of-way, is this incredible and fully modernized house with five bedrooms, two baths. The Station was formerly a rescue building with a four story tower and 360 degree views.
Watch the sun rise over Penobscot Bay and set over Mt. Desert Island from the enormous ironwood deck. Serve locally caught lobster to ten of your best friends after a day taking advantage of the natural wonders in nearby Acadia National Park.
The Station has four bedrooms: a king bedroom with an adjoining room of two twins; a queen bedroom; another bedroom with two twins; and there is a double bed up in the look-out tower. Full bath on the second floor.
On her main floor is a fantastic open level featuring a living room, family room, dining area, billiards room with wood-burning granite fireplace and well-appointed kitchen, and a bathroom with shower. See the ocean from almost every room at The Station.
Bring your bikes, enjoy island beaching, and take a sunset cruise with a local lobstermen who will regale you with many generations of accumulated sea lore. Little Cranberry is accessible by ferry from Northeast or Southwest Harbor and the house rental includes an "island car" for transport to and from the ferry. Arrangements can be made to accommodate a boat of any size in the harbor at Islesford. There is no smoking. Pets are negotiable. |
