College of the Atlanticís Summer Field Studies (SFS) is a day camp program designed for young people entering first through ninth grades. Learning in small groups of 10-12 lets us foster an atmosphere of community and cooperation.

Camp Beech Cliff

MDI Sailing

The MDI Community Sailing Center (MDICSC) is an independent non-profit organization located on Clark Point Road in Southwest Harbor, Maine. It offers maritime education and boating instruction to the general public of Mount Desert Island and surrounding coastal communities.


The Mount Desert Island YMCA is all about community. We are entirely focused on making all of our lives healthier, full of potential and with an ingrained sense of social responsibility. Yes, we are a great place to work out, swim and play basketball. But what we care about most is bringing people together to make our community stronger.

The Neighborhood House

The Neighborhood House has been many things to many people since its doors opened in 1905. In those hundred-plus years, the Town of Mount Desert has certainly gone through a plethora of change, as too has The Neighborhood House itself. One thing that has remained the same, however, is the mission of The Neighborhood House and the importantThe Neighborhood House role it plays within our community.

Harbor House Community Center

Located in the village of Southwest Harbor, Harbor House is a non-profit community service organization serving the communities of Mount Desert Island. With seven program areas and a roster of more than 40 health, fitness, educational, sports, community-based and youth-focused classes and activities, Harbor House serves every age group and every economic level and has done so for 51 years and counting.
