Description

Island Watch sits on a ridge above the village of Southwest Harbor and has a vista that is as unique as any on the Maine coast, yet is removed from the busier, in-town atmosphere. A bit more secluded, but does have a private path that will take you into the center of Southwest Harbor. From there you can board the free Island Explorer bus, wander through an art gallery, have a gourmet dinner, or just have an ice cream at the local café. Only minutes away from some of the least used and most scenic trails in Acadia National Park.

Formerly run as a Bed and Breakfast, Island Watch is now available to rent on a weekly basis.  When you walk into the house it will take your breath away. The view is nothing short of spectacular. Before you to the northeast is the fjord of Somes Sound and as your eyes sweep around, you see Seal Harbor, Northeast Harbor, a more intimate view of Southwest Harbor, and several of the offshore islands. The mountains of Acadia provide a dramatic canvas for the sunsets. Should you choose to rise early, the sunrises over Great Harbor will be an incredible start to your day. Evenings watching the beacons of the Bear Island and Baker Island lighthouses, flashing red or green navigation bouys, and returning fishing vessels is a peaceful way to end a busy day exploring Acadia National Park. 

The house has seven bedrooms, each with it's own bathroom. The two bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen) on the main floor also have wider doors at ground level that provide much simpler access to those folks with mobility issues. These rooms connect to the main floor of the house. On this level are the living room/dining space with a wall of windows showcasing the view. The main kitchen is here also along with a sun room and access to 3 separate decks, one or more providing either shade or sun at almost any time of day. Also on this floor is a large stone fireplace and bar area.

The upper floor has four bedrooms. Three (2 queen, 1 king), have wonderful water views. The fourth is the smaller "lighthouse room" that is usually the kids room. This room has a twin trundle bed that can expand for two. There is a TV with DVD player in this room. Two of the other upper floor rooms are equipped with televisions.

The lower floor has a bedroom with a double bed and can be a complete stand alone apartment with it's own kitchen including a stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. The laundry room with a washer and dryer is on this level.

There is also an efficiency apartment in a detached building on the property that is rented separately and is available at a discounted rate if your party is a little larger.

$200 cleaning fee for groups over 10 people

Information about your Quoted Price:
Included in your quote is the rental rate, the state lodging tax and our processing fee, A Refundable $1500 Security Deposit is also added to your lease.
Security deposits are held by our company and any expenses incurred during your stay that are over and above what is included in your lease, will be deducted from the deposit. After inspection of the property and collection of any additional bills from the owner, remaining monies will be refunded to you no longer than 30 days after your departure date.  Please allow sufficient time for mailing. Please report any damages to rental agent prior to departure to expedite this process.

Special note on Security returns: We have experienced slower mailing times in the past year through the US Postal Service. If you have not received your deposit within 30 days please contact our office.  However, due to the mail system, we ask that you please allow the specified amount of time for mailing prior to calling our office as this only slows down our processing of requests. **Your agent will contact you within 10 days of departure if there are any issues with your security deposit that need to be addressed.
